Dr. Goldberg Climbs Kilimanjaro
In 2006, Dr. Goldberg achieved his personal goal of climbing to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. The 52-mile trek started in a tropical forest and ended 7 days later at the snow capped Uhuru Peak, 19,350 feet above sea level.
Upon his decent, he met with his nuclear family and reunited with his mother’s family who fled the Holocaust of WWII to take up residence in South Africa.
During the Kilimanjaro climb, a charitable fund was set up with the Valerie Fund at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Donations were made in support of Dr. Goldberg’s endeavor to help contribute to the care of children with cancer and blood disorders.
