Orthodontic/Periodontal Surgical Procedures
| Certain periodontal procedures are undertaken with proper aesthetics and function in mind to enhance the orthodontic results. |
|
Fiberotomy |
| There are a number of circular elastic tissue fibers that surround each tooth. When teeth are rotated with orthodontic
treatment these fibers tend to stretch, but by carefully excising these tissues, the teeth can be prevented from relapsing to their original position. |
|
Frenectomy |
| The exuberant muscle attachment from the lip to the gum is called the frenum.
Judicious removal of all or some of this muscle allows the teeth to be placed in the proper position, and they will stay in place more easily. |
